Apostle Paul told Timothy to study to show himself approved unto God. "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"
(2 Timothy 2:15).
SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED
What is approved is what remains after testing, like metals that have been refined by fire. Rightly diving literally means “cutting straight”. Word of truth: Truth defines the nature of scriptural adherence. It is a beacon of truth in the darkness of all kinds of falsehoods. Teachers of the Bible should make every effort to handle His truth accurately. Failure to do so will lead to divine judgment. My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment – (James 3:1). Apostle Paul proceeded to warn Timothy about two men, Hymenaeus and Philetus, who taught that the resurrection of believers had already occurred.
1 Timothy 1: 18-20 “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme”.
Apparently earlier in his ministry prophecies had been made about Timothy and his future role in the church. Paul urges Timothy to wage the good warfare. According to this powerful imagery, Christian ministry spiritual warfare directed against God’s enemies. Paul gave examples of two men who were falling to fight the good fight of faith in the persons of “Hymenaeus and Alexander”. This Alexander is likely to be the same person presented in 2 Timothy 2:17 as “Philetus”. The phrase “delivered to Satan” is similar to the context in 1 Corinthians 5:5.
The authority to “deliver over” was apostolic in nature. Apostle Paul did not deliver the two men because they were unbelievers or sinners, no; he did because they professed to be believers but turned and became blasphemers. Sin of blaspheme is a serious case before God and the church of Jesus. There are many ways one can blaspheme thus; (1) by heretical teaching, (2) by condemning the activities of the Holy Spirit, (3) by rendering a false accusation against the church. You have to understand that, to tender a case or speak against a church when the church or her leaders are doing wrong is a different thing from false accusation of the church.
In this paradigm, the blasphemer is a backslider or shipwrecked believer. Paul said “deliver him or her to Satan” the purpose of this action is that he may learn not to blaspheme. Though, some people play indifferent when this action or pronouncement is made upon them by their church, because of their ignorance of the spiritual implication and the efficacy of the divine authority behind the ecclesiastical decision.
In the New Testament the word translated “learn” is used only of God’s discipline of believers. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world – (1 Corinthians 11:32, Ref:- Hebrews 12:6-7, 10). Paul was indicating that these men should be excluded from the church so that they might abandon their evil ways – (1 Corinthians 5:1-5).
The heretical teaching of Hymenaeus and Philetus that the resurrection of believers has already occurred was probably an early form of Gnosticism that emphasized a spiritual resurrection over against the Christian belief in a future bodily resurrection. Today, there are different types of Gnosticism going on among the Christian faith. Yet, in spite of the unfaithful actions of some, the solid foundation of God stands. As God’s truth stood firm in the days of Apostle Paul, so it stands today, and will also stand in the future because it is eternal.
Prophet Isaiah said; “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever" - (Isaiah 40:8). Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His”, and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity” – (2 Timothy 2:19). The Lord Knows Those Who Are His: This is an intimate, experiential knowledge that can only be obtained in a close relationship. Depart From Iniquity: Our sure relationship with our heavenly Father should motivate us to a life of purity and dedication to Him. Your righteousness is of me says the Lord.
God bless you.

YOU'RE BLESSED
Reading from Matthew 5:2-11, we saw Jesus teaching the multitudes who came to hear Him. The phrase repeatedly constant in His message is “Blessed are you”. The blessing was pronounced in relevance to a specific attitudes or ways of life people needs to live to be blessed. It’s expected that whoever desires to partake in this divine blessedness must have the attitudes described in the beatitudes.
The word “BLESSED” in Greek word is “makarios”. This Greek word is derived from the root “mak”, which means “large, or length” it also means “fortunate, or happy”. This Greek word was used in the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Old Testament), and in the New Testament to describe the kind of happiness that comes from receiving divine favor. The word “blessed” can be rendered happy. In the New Testament it is usually passive; God is the One who is blessing or favoring the person – (Luke 6:20-23, Romans 4:7-8, James 1:12, 25).
I can see the LORD favor you today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ' amen.
